October 2007 Tenon chips in with top award
Wood products company Tenon Ltd was the supreme winner at the
American Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand (AmCham) business
awards.
The Auckland-based company transformed from forester Fletcher
Challenge Forests to its present form as a value adding, customer
focused, wood product provider.
The awards celebrate business innovation and success in the import,
export, investment and tourism sectors between New Zealand and its
second largest trading partner, the US. Tenon also won the exporter
of the year - goods category.
"Choosing a supreme winner was a tight call given the exceptional
calibre of contenders," said Chamber president Michael
Stanley.
"Tenon, however, just had the leading edge, demonstrating market
leadership and customer focus with its environmentally certified
wood products, including solid wood mouldings. It also showed
business disciplines and sound strategy, investing in continually
improving its vertically integrated supply chain, establishing its
own marketing office in the US to be close to retail customers and
suppliers and forming joint venture partnerships to extend its
market influence and capture margin."
